The British manufacturer, based in Abingdon, started in 1985 with what would today be considered simple antivirus technology, and invented the Virus Description Language on which virus detection files are still based.

Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH
Proxmox is an Austrian company based in Vienna, founded in 2005. Proxmox Virtual Environment is an open-source virtualisation platform that brings KVM virtualisation and LXC containers together under a single web interface.
Alongside it sit Proxmox Backup Server for deduplicated, incremental backups and Proxmox Mail Gateway as an upstream mail filter.
Proxmox interests us for several reasons: no core-based licensing models that reinvent themselves every year, open source code, a predictable support subscription — and a manufacturer you can reach in the same time zone and the same language. The US company ConnectWise builds very powerful tools, among them ConnectWise Automate — an automation and monitoring solution of the highest order (formerly LabTech) — and ConnectWise ScreenConnect for remote support.

Awingu (Parallels · Alludo)
Awingu was founded commercially in Belgium in 2014 and pursues the idea of secure access to remote desktops and applications. Since 2022 the company has belonged to Parallels, part of the Alludo group.
What makes it interesting is that Awingu was designed from the very beginning so that the end device plays a subordinate role — Windows, Mac, Android or Linux alike. With smartcard or two-factor authentication you reach your internal terminal servers over a secured connection. You do not need a VPN. All you need is an internet connection and a browser.
Citrix Systems Inc.
The US company, with roots going back to 1989, was working on remote desktop and application delivery long before today’s key players. With the acquisition of XenSource in 2007, server virtualisation was added.
Veeam Software
Veeam specialises in data backup and recovery, particularly for virtual environments. Founded in 2006, the company is today headquartered in the United States and has become one of the standard providers for backing up virtual systems.
Acronis AG
The Swiss company is an expert in data backup and recovery. Founded in 2002, Acronis today has numerous products for business and private customers alike.
Its backup and disk imaging software is easy to operate, reliable and inexpensive by comparison. The present product range grew out of a disk partitioning tool and now presents itself as a modern solution for disaster recovery and data protection.

Lenovo
Lenovo Group Limited is a Chinese computer and smartphone manufacturer founded in 1984. In 2005 the company took over IBM’s PC division, and in 2014 Motorola Mobility and parts of IBM’s server division. Well-known products include ThinkPad in notebooks and ThinkSystem in servers.
